Parenting Essay The Trenches - 1427 Words

Parenting ‘In the Trenches’ Parenting is its own job. It might seem easy or it may seem as if any idiot on the street can go and do it, however, the only ones who can attest to the truth are the ones who do it. So to seek the truth an interview was conducted with a former neighbor and extremely close family friend, Bharti Patel. She is a married 43-year-old woman who is the mother of an 18-year-old boy, Priyank. After conversing with her for nearly 45 minutes I learned a lot of interesting facts about the long time friend of mine. Priyank Patel was born on November 12, 1997. At his birth he was on the heavy side. Mrs. Patel said that, as an infant, he had no particular issues. He was not a major crier and stayed fairly quiet throughout†¦show more content†¦This security started to give him the confidence for autonomy. The sense of independence led to him being willing explore all realms of his surrounding and would usually not show signs of distress too easily. According to his mom, at times he would not even need his secure base to go and explore throughout the house. Priyank only showed signs of distress when he would be completely disoriented and had no clue to where he was, however, that rarely happened. The advancement in attachment led to him maturing at a quicker rate than originally expected. Mrs. Patel started to first realize how quickly he had matured when he started to develop categorical perception at only about 7 months old. For example, when he would be playing with his toys he had a ba d habit of throwing them around and creating chaos at times, however, whenever his dad would tell him to stop it with a stern tone, he would quickly understand the tone and stop what he was doing. He would then continue to play with his toys in a clean fashion. Mrs. Patel was extremely happy that due to her special bond with her kid that he was going to grow up to be socially independent and be able to make friends easily. She was right, but at the same she could not have been more wrong. Once baby Priyank started to grow older, he showed more signs of early intelligence. He showed interest in the books and other symbolic reading materials his parents would introduce to him.
